Updating the Homes for Cathy commitments: Revised homelessness pledges for 2024 

With government figures showing that 52,800 households were accepted by their local council as homeless in 2022/23 – up 24% year on year – and a 27% rise in the number of people sleeping rough, housing associations cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal to provide the homes and support people need to escape homelessness.   

The Homes for Cathy commitments provide a framework for organisations to prioritise action and benchmark their work and progress in this area. 

Six years since Homes for Cathy launched the original commitments with Crisis, they are being refreshed to include new aims and reflect best practice.
