The changing face of Governance
Governance is changing! The expenses scandal and an overall mistrust in our elected elite, has led to a coalition government who are promising a new era of politics. More accountability from our elected representatives and a shift in power toward the public being able to demand local referendums and debates in Parliament, are all part of the plan to build a Big Society based around social responsibility and community action.
Housing association boards will be facing similar challenges including huge Government spending cuts which may not directly affect the sector, but will have a major impact on us all.
2011 will be a pivotal year, in which housing association boards need to be prepared to influence the new policy makers, ready to meet the financial challenges that lie ahead, committed to providing an excellent service to our vulnerable society and above all, progressive leaders for their organisations.
