South West Supported Housing Month is an awareness-raising campaign aimed at showcasing the work of some of the 650 organisations working in the sector in the South West, and promoting the impact of their services – more than 2
,800 throughout the region.
Providers in the region work with nearly 103,000 people, helping them achieve their potential and enjoy independent and fulfilled lives. South West Supported Housing Month will see providers of the full range of services raising the profile of the sector through organising a variety of events, visits, launches and other activities aimed at local politicians and other key stakeholders.
During the month of action (14 May – 12 June 2009) we aim to tell as wide an audience as possible about the difference the sector is making for some of the region’s most vulnerable people – demonstrating the value added, and the ways in these important services contribute to regional priorities on issues like access to housing, social care, health, and preventative work on social exclusion, homelessness, teenage pregnancy, offending and substance misuse.
With the ending of the ring-fence and moving of support service commissioning into other local authority departments it is more important than ever that Supported Housing and Floating Support service providers shout out about what their services achieve and this is the opportunity to do just that.
South West Supported Housing Month is both owned by and for the sector as a whole. All of the region’s providers are invited to get involved and add information about their planned activities into the mix, so whether you are part of the working group or Supported Housing Forum, or are simply delivering supported housing services in the region, get on board today and fly the flag for the sector!
