Directors’ and Officers’ Liability Insurance through R K Harrison

The Directors and Officers Liability Insurance that you receive as part of your National Housing Federation membership has been enhanced and improved through a new partnership with RKH Insurance Services.

Professional indemnity cover for board or committee members, and now all staff, has been increased from £5m to £7.5m, and the aggregate limit has been increased from £30m to £45m across all member associations in any one period.

The cover also includes:

  • Professional indemnity now up to full policy limits  (individual only)
  • Libel and slander (individual only)
  • Employment practices liability – protection for individuals against actions following alleged employment practice violation
  • Outside directorships – cover for any individual acting as a director or officer within a third party organisation
  • Entity versus individual – New!
  • Corporate manslaughter defence costs – New!
  • Pension trustees liability (limited)
  • Deeds and documents restoration
  • Regulatory investigation defence costs, and
  • Full cover for all subsidiary companies of Federation members.

RKH, who place the insurance programme on behalf of the Federation, monitor the number and cost of claims reported. RKH and the Federation will not disclose information on individual claims due to confidentiality issues, but have agreed to report to all members if claims in total against any year exceed 10% of the aggregate limit of indemnity.

This commitment means that, in the event of a significant level of claims being reported, members could make an informed decision on whether or not their protection is materially impaired and if further cover should be purchased.
