Course background
Ideally, participants should have had approximately three
months’ experience before attending this course.
Course aim
The aim of this one day course is to provide an overview
and understanding of the social housing sector and the environment
within which housing associations operate.
What you will learn
The course will focus on the following key areas:
- The origins of social housing, the purpose and aims of housing
associations
- An overview of the people housed by housing associations
- An introduction to the funding of housing associations
- Key changes in recent times and the effect on the different
functions eg finance, development and housing management
- The relationship with other bodies such as local authorities,
the regulatory body and the Homes and Communities
Agency
- The work and structure of different types of housing
associations.
Who should attend?
Staff and board members who are new to social housing, staff
from partner or outside organisations who need to gain an insight
into the work of housing associations.
