The National Housing Federation’s mission is to support the housing community across the UK through events, networking and knowledge sharing.
When participating in NHF events, all attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and volunteers are required to agree with our code of conduct.
We will research and select speakers that are representative of every nationality, gender, religious affiliation, economic status, etc. We are paying specific attention to improving the gender balance and BAME representation right across our events portfolio.
Targets on gender and ethnicity, aimed at increasing the diversity of our event speakers, include:
We will conduct a EDI survey prior of any space used to host NHF events to ensure they are suitable to welcome an audience with mobility, visual or hearing requirements, and from any religious affiliation. We are committed to using venues that provide:
Wheelchair access to the building and accessible toilet
We endeavor to make any event related written or recorded materials widely accessible. We are committed to delivering content that uses plain English, that is visually accessible, and website and screen reader compatible.
We want our speakers and chairs to be mindful of their audience and be inclusive with their delivery and content. All participants in NHF events are briefed in accordance to the Equality and Human Rights Commission event planning guide to engaging with disabled people.
We align with organisations that champion diversity and look to them to support us in delivering event programmes that are representative of our communities and our members. We will look favourably on sponsors and partners who reflect this by fielding a diverse set of speakers to participate In an event.
