Local member groups

Engagement with members is a central part of our lobbying and campaigning work, and our offer to members.

We do this in a number of ways:

  • Seeking your views and feedback through face-to-face visits and consultation events.
  • Communicating policy and lobbying activity through publications and events.
  • Harnessing your expertise through local groups.

Regional committees and Chief Executive Forums are made up of Federation members, usually elected for three year terms and usually serving no more than three terms. Members can be co-opted to the groups. Committees select their own chairs, and are serviced by the Federation.

Interest and practitioner groups are specialist groups established by members with each area to network, share information and receive training. Some groups seek to influence stakeholders for the benefit and promotion of the sector. Others may act as a consultation forum and resource of expertise.
