We are working with the Local Government Association to bring together housing associations and local authorities to tackle homelessness together.
Earlier in the year the Federation ran a series of events with housing associations to better understand the challenges the sector faces in reducing homelessness. The events revealed that housing associations are keen to develop stronger relationships with their local authority partners in order to be able to better work together on tackling homelessness.
We have already developed the Commitment to Refer, a voluntary offer for housing associations on the Duty to Refer in the Homelessness Reduction Act. We’d like to strengthen this as well as find other opportunities for better partnership working and relationship building.
We have therefore organised this series of events to bring together housing associations and local authorities to discuss the challenges faced by each sector, share best practice, reflect on the referral process so far, and identify further opportunities for strengthening collaboration.
