Community Right to Build

 The Government has consulted on a new scheme called the Community Right to Build which would allow communities to by-pass the usual planning process by holding referendums on plans to develop new affordable housing and other community assets. The Federation has written its response to the scheme.

The number of pensioners living in rural England will increase by nearly one million over the next decade – but communities will struggle to support the ageing population boom unless more affordable homes are built for families and younger people, a campaign group warned today.
