Shared Ownership Week 2013

Shared Ownership Week sets out to highlight the importance of affordable home ownership.

What is Shared Ownership Week?

Shared Ownership Week runs between 18 and 24 March 2013, with housing associations across England urged to take part to promote affordable home ownership.

The week will offer housing associations the chance to improve understanding of shared ownership with local stakeholders and promote the need for it in the areas they work.

It may allow you to dispel some of the myths and misconceptions which surround shared ownership - whether these are believed by your board, local media or customers.

It will also be a time to showcase your work and highlight the positive outcomes shared ownership can deliver for customers.

We have also produced a national publication which makes the case for shared ownership, highlighting key issues around the shortfall in supply of housing across the market, affordability issues and dispelling some of the myths surrounging the tenure.

What is involved?

Housing associations, individually and in partnership, all over the country will be raising awareness of shared ownership and its importance in providing an affordable housing solution.

They will be organising their own events to showcase their work and schemes throughout the week, targetting MPs, councillors, local authorities, business leaders and other key stakeholders to attend.

Getting started

Housing associations will be in the driving seat in terms of what happens, with the Federation helping to coordinate the week through our national and regional offices, and providing template documents and supporting information for our members to use.

We encourage all housing associations providing homes for shared ownership to get involved - either individually or in partnership with others.

You can also follow the campaign on Twitter using #SOweek13.

Resources

We have produced a suite of Shared Ownership Week resource packs for each of the regions, including the facts and figures you'll need.

We have also put together a template letter you can use to invite MPs or councillors to support your work and/or attend an event you are organising during Shared Ownership Week.
