Latest updates on supported housing oversight

09 May 2024

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has now opened recruitment for the Supported Housing Advisory Panel.

Applications are open until 12 June 2024 for both general applicants with expertise in supported housing and residents with lived experience.

The panel aims to work towards better outcomes for residents of supported housing, and a fair supported housing landscape for people who need extra support to live independently. Members of the panel will have the chance to share their expertise and experience of supported housing with the government.

We are still awaiting the DLUHC consultation on the main provisions of the Act, including licensing powers and a strategic planning duty for Local Authorities. At the NHF, we support the aims of the Act, but we are committed to helping supported housing providers have their voices heard and shape the details so that it works for the sector and residents.

We are encouraging supported housing providers to share information on applying to the panel with both senior staff and residents. DLUHC has put together a resident application pack that provides more information for residents interested in the role. There is also a pack for general applicants. The selection criteria states that all applicants from supported housing providers should be at Director level or equivalent.
