Our response to the government’s announcement on social housing regulation

In response to today's announcements on social housing regulation, Kate Henderson, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation says:

"The announcements today, which begin to deliver the ambitions of the social housing white paper, are hugely welcome. We are particularly pleased to see that residents are at the heart of government policy-making with the establishment of a new resident panel to help shape these reforms.

"Housing associations are committed to ensuring homes are safe and decent, and through our sector-wide Together with Tenants initiative, we are already working to strengthen the relationships between residents and housing association landlords. The introduction of a new Social Housing Regulation Bill will bolster this work.

"The National Housing Federation wants to work with residents and the government to ensure these reforms deliver the change residents have been calling for, and we look forward to seeing the full Bill soon."
