Learning and development

You’ll have lots of opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills at the Federation. We’ll make sure you’re supported to take on new challenges, so you can continue growing and developing within your role.

We offer more formal development opportunities as well. As part of our yearly appraisal process, staff have the chance to identify and access the paid-for training that will help them achieve their aspirations. If that means taking part in part-time study courses like Master’s degrees or professional diplomas, you can apply for the Federation to cover half of the cost of your course.

We also run a full programme of activities to help you learn more about housing associations and the wider sector, which is led by staff, for staff.

It includes:

  • Regular visits to see the work of our members.
  • Talks from our members in our offices.
  • Housing 101 sessions, which are introductions to aspects of housing policy for non-experts.
  • Lunch and learns on a range of other topics such as housing refugees, the history of the sector and personal development.
