Our offer for housing association board members

Find out how the NHF can support housing association board members to deliver for their organisations and promote excellence in the sector.

Board members are pivotal in ensuring that housing associations are well run, effective and deliver on their mission. Making sure that board members are supported to do this is important for the housing association sector's reputation and for ensuring we can continue to provide high quality homes, enable communities to thrive and build strong relationships with residents.

Housing association boards attract passionate, highly skilled people – but housing is a complex, ever-changing world. At the NHF, we’ve been working closely with board members to develop ways that we can support you in your role to understand the sector better, develop a network of peers, and further your skills and expertise to tackle business critical issues.

As well as publications, resources, and our quarterly Board Bulletin e-newsletter, we offer board members a number of roundtable and networking events, such as the Board Excellence in Housing Conference and NHF Summit.

Board Bulletin newsletter

The Board Bulletin is our dedicated quarterly newsletter, created exclusively for housing association board members. Subscribe for the latest information from the NHF on critical topics and for details of upcoming events and webinars.

Board Excellence in Housing Conference

Our Board Excellence Conference is an opportunity to learn from others, reassess the role of the board, and develop the skills to be able to understand and challenge the information presented. It will also support you in assessing where decisions for one area of business may mean a trade off elsewhere or raise new risks.

Board Member National Network

This quarterly network brings together housing association board members from across the country to debate the significant strategic issues affecting the sector.

Each meeting focuses on a critical topic, from quality and sustainability to building safety or equality, diversity and inclusion. Hear critical updates on the NHF's work and from other housing associations on their approach. You’ll also be able to put your questions to the speakers and participate in discussion groups to share your ideas.

New board member inductions

Throughout the year, we run inductions for new board members online for those new to the sector or wanting to get a firmer handle on critical issues.
