NCVO, Regents Wharf, 8 All Saints Street, Islington, London N1 9RL

The Government is due to consult on a new regulatory system for buildings, to implement the Hackitt Review recommendations. This event is a chance to shape the Federation’s submission to the consultation.

Last year, the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety concluded that the current system for regulating buildings was not fit for purpose.

The Government endorsed in full its recommendations to create a new system, committing to a fundamental reform.

The Government is now due to consult on its proposed new system for keeping buildings safe and we would like your views to inform our response.

This session will explore the detail of the new system, including new statutory responsibilities for building owners and landlords throughout a building’s lifecycle, working with residents to keep buildings safe and oversight the new regulator will have.

We’d like to get members’ views on:

  • Your experience of, and views on, implementing Dame Judith Hackitt’s recommendations
  • The tools you’ll need to carry out your new responsibilities
  • What more the sector can do to ensure our residents’ safety
