Celebrate the impact of supported housing on 31 August.
5 June 2018
In the run up to the summer recess and an anticipated announcement from the Government on the outcome of its consultation, it is critical we continue to keep supported housing high on the political agenda.
We will be meeting with key MPs and ministers, and are bringing our member Task and Finish Group back together, outlining our concerns and pressing for the changes we'd like to see. We'd encouarge members to continue talking to MPs too - if you'd like a briefing to help with these conversations, please let us know and we'll be happy to provide this.
Alongside this, we are starting to plan for Starts at Home Day, the now annual event when the housing association share positive stories about the difference supported housing makes to thousands of people.
This year Starts at Home Day will take place on Friday 31 August, perfectly timed to invite your MPs and stakeholders to visit local supported housing schemes.
We can provide campaign boards for you to use in photo opportunities – please email us with your postal address if you’d like to order one and it will be sent to you in time for Starts at Home Day.
If you want to talk to your MP about funding for supported housing when they visit, we can provide you with a briefing but what is most important is that they see first-hand the value of these services.
Since its launch two years’ ago, Starts at Home Day has made a big impact on social media, with #startsathome trending nationwide on Twitter, being the most used hashtag by politicians that day and our posts getting a positive reaction on Instagram. We want to replicate that success this year, so please share your stories on social media using #startsathome.
Nearer the day, we’ll have a template press release and other campaign materials. Let us know if there is anything you’d like us to provide.
