Raising awareness of disability in the workplace

Gemma Waddington, 14 January 2022

I’m sharing my personal story to create awareness about neurodiversity as I have dyslexia and dyspraxia which affect my everyday life. My aim is to inspire others and help make changes within the social housing sector.

Neurodiversity commonly refers to people with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other learning disabilities.

I believe that everyone has talents as well as things they find difficult, whether or not they have a disability or life impacting condition. However, for some people the variation between those strengths and weaknesses is more pronounced, which can lead to stigma and people not being included.

Watch my Vlog below to learn about my journey which has led me to create a diversity and inclusion group called Don’t Dis my Ability at The Hyde Group.
