Domestic abuse consultation: shape our response

14 July 2021

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is seeking views on the draft statutory guidance and two sets of regulations, set out below, that accompany Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act.

  • The Domestic Abuse Support (Relevant Accommodation) Regulations 2021.
  • The Domestic Abuse (Local Authority Strategies) Regulations 2021.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 introduces new duties on tier 1 local authorities in England relating to the provision of support for victims and their children within safe and appropriate accommodation and the duty on tier 2 authorities to co-operate with tier 1 authorities.

You can read the full consultation on the government’s website.

Our members provide support and accommodation for people fleeing domestic abuse and we are keen to ensure that our members’ voices are represented in the consultation, and demonstrate the sector’s commitment in this area.

To feed into our submission, please contact Evelyn Williams, Policy Officer, with your comments by Monday 19 July.
