NHF becomes Disability Confident Committed

08 February 2022

The National Housing Federation (NHF) has signed up to become a Disability Confident Committed employer having completed level 1 of the Disability Confident scheme.

This is part of the government's initiative that supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the workplace.

Joining the scheme encourages the NHF to put actions and activities into place, to support us to tap into a huge pool of talent amongst disabled people, enabling us to recruit, retain and develop people with the skills we need.

Benefits

Other benefits include:

  • Increase our own understanding of disability and how to make the most of opportunities provided by employing disabled people.
  • Remove barriers that might be preventing disabled people and those with long term health conditions from accessing employment with us.
  • Opportunity to play our part in ensuring disabled people have opportunities to fulfil their own potential and realise their own aspirations.

"This is a great achievement, although it’s the first step and there is much more to do. We are committed to achieving Level 3 – Disability Confident Leader. We have already started to work on Level 2 – Disability Confident, and excited to see how the work we are doing reflects in our workforce data."
