Our work with the new Minister of State for Housing

10 February 2022

Following a cabinet reshuffle this week, we welcomed a new Minister of State for Housing, Stuart Andrew MP (pictured in parliamentary copyright image).

Mr Andrew joins the housing sector having previously served for two years as Deputy Chief Whip in the House of Commons.

The Minister has previously spoken in Parliament about the importance of housing and home ownership, referencing his own experience growing up in a council house and the pride of people in his community becoming the first in their family to own their home. He has also spoken out about housebuilding, and shared some challenging views on the greenbelt and brownfield land sites.

We have written to the new Minister of State to share information about the housing association sector, the vital role it plays, driven by social purpose. We have also outlined the most pressing opportunities and challenges facing our sector right now.

We look forward to meeting the Minister soon, building on the strong and productive relationship we had with the previous Housing Minister, and the wider departmental team, on a vast range of matters relating to housing and housing associations.
