Funding and strategic partnerships

We’re working to secure the government support and funding we need to help our members build more new homes.

Our submission to the next Spending Review aims to help the sector make a transformational investment in people, in homes and in our communities to end the housing crisis.

As part of our submission, we produced a grant modelling report. This estimates the subsidy needed for housing associations and local authorities to build the social homes required to meet housing need over the decade from 2021.

Affordable Homes Programme

For many housing associations, the funding they receive via the Affordable Homes Programme is set to end in March 2021. Many are slowing down their development plans, and stopping buying new land, due to the uncertainty over funding and the time it takes between buying land and completing a new home.

We will ask the government to confirm additional funding in the existing Affordable Homes Programme beyond 2021, to allow those housing associations most directly affected to continue with their ambitious development plans.

Strategic partnerships

We're continuing to work with Homes England on their programme of strategic partnerships between the government and housing associations.
