Good housing helps us stay healthy, with warm, dry homes and access to green space making a big impact on people’s wellbeing.
That’s why the high quality homes built and managed by housing associations make such an important contribution to healthy communities, preventing illness caused by damp, cold conditions and overcrowding.
Housing associations also support the country’s health and social care needs more broadly. People with physical and mental health needs benefit from their specialist adapted homes and additional services, which enable them to live independent, healthy lives.
Housing associations deliver these services in partnership with other providers, including the NHS. Strong partnerships ensure that housing and health can effectively deliver positive outcomes for the public purse, and for the people and communities who benefit from their services.
