Resident involvement

How residents have shaped this work

We know that for this work to be successful, we need to design and deliver it in partnership with residents.

We’ve been doing this through our Tenant Advisory Panel, which represents a diverse group of housing association residents, all bringing with them a wealth of experience and skills.

The panel is independent of the Federation and plays a crucial role in guiding and shaping the Together with Tenants work as it develops. The panel meets regularly as a group and alongside the Member Steering Group to ensure that the project is moving in the right direction.

We're currently looking for five new members to join our Tenant Advisory Panel. The deadline to apply is 19 January 2024. To find out more, read our role advert.

Meet our Tenant Advisory Panel.

In addition, when we launched our formal consultation on the Together with Tenants plan in spring 2019, we spoke to a wide range of tenants through a series of roadshow events, and gathered online feedback from 2,500 people – 80% of whom were housing association residents.

If you live in a housing association home, and want to find out if your landlord is a Together with Tenants adopter, look on their website for the Together with Tenants Adopter badge. This means they have adopted the charter, which is a commitment to:

  • Establish meaningful resident engagement in decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with residents to design mechanisms for oversight.
  • Support residents to hold your organisation to account.
  • Be open to the challenges that all of this brings.

If you have any questions about how this is being delivered, please contact your landlord directly.
