Levelling Up White Paper - briefing for housing associations

09 February 2022

The highly anticipated Levelling Up White Paper has now been published. We are pleased with the breadth and ambition of the white paper and its recognition that housing associations will play a key role in levelling up across the country.

At over 300 pages, the document contains a raft of interventions on a range of different policy areas as well as details about how progress towards the goals will be monitored.

In this briefing, we explore the key announcements within the white paper that will affect housing associations. There are still questions around the details of funding and how the new proposals will work in practice, we will continue to engage with the government on the implementation.

For the purpose of this briefing, we’ve concentrated on the policy proposals relevant to the social housing sector. Details include plans to regenerate towns and cities, get more people onto the housing ladder and increase skills levels across the country.
