Local Supported Housing Strategies Guidance

Introduction

On 17 February 2026, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) published statutory guidance on Local Supported housing Housing Strategies. On this page, we explain how the guidance impacts housing associations, and next steps for working in partnership with local authorities.  

At the NHF, we worked with the government and our members on draft iterations of the guidance. We're pleased it recognises the vital role supported housing plays in helping those who need support to live independently and to prevent or recover from a crisis and emphasises a partnership approach.
