Preparing for Brexit - briefing for members

18 September 2019

This briefing sets out the key challenges Brexit may bring for housing associations and how the sector can prepare.

Whatever the outcome of the Brexit process, housing associations are uniquely positioned to keep building affordable homes and supporting communities, with the right government support.

However, the current uncertainty makes their operating environment more difficult and a hard Brexit would impact important areas of their work.

This briefing aims to support housing associations in their preparations for Brexit. It updates information provided in our January 2019 Brexit briefing and covers:

  • the key issues facing housing associations, including those presented by a no-deal Brexit
  • what the NHF is doing to help mitigate these issues
  • five things housing associations could do to prepare for the future
  • the Government’s guidance on preparing for a no-deal Brexit.

In such a fast-changing political environment, it is likely that government advice and no-deal preparations will continue to change. Members can sign up to our email updates for the latest information and events on our homepage.
