The Grenfell Tower fire shocked and horrified the housing association sector.
Within hours of the tragedy, National Housing Federation members in London and beyond offered accommodation and practical support to the community in Kensington and Chelsea.
Housing associations also moved quickly to review safety measures in their buildings, ensured appropriate and necessary fire safety information was available to tenants, and responded promptly to the Government’s cladding safety tests.
Since 14 June 2018, the National Housing Federation’s work has focused on helping to provide strategic oversight and constructive challenge to the Government’s Building Safety Programme through our membership of the Industry Response Group. We have also engaged extensively with the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety.
The National Housing Federation is committed to doing everything we can to help drive up standards of building safety. If you need to contact us about our work in this area, please email Lucy Grove, Grenfell Programme Lead.
