The National Housing Federation works with Thistle Tenant Risks, who provide My Home Contents Insurance. Their My Home scheme is designed for tenants and residents living in social and affordable housing, offering economical and flexible schemes to protect tenants against a whole range of risks with no cost to you as a member.

Flexibility for your tenants

The policy has been designed to meet the specific needs of tenants. The pricing and payment options have been developed to provide flexibility, and with features like no excess and optional add on's for extra cover so your tenants can personalise their cover to protect what is important to them. Tenants can choose from a range of payment options including weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual collections.

A dedicated in house team

The administration of all "arms-length" schemes is managed in-house by our expert team, so there are no third-party administration fees built into the premiums and no unnecessary costs for "desk handled" claims which are directly managed by the insurers.

Simple administration

Housing providers can administer their own Tenants Home Contents Insurance Scheme using our bespoke web-based portal, reducing the need for existing system changes to accommodate insurance.

  • No excess (you don’t pay the first part of the claim)
  • Covers theft, water damage, fire and many more household risks
  • Covers tenant’s improvements (up to £2,000 or 20% of the sum insured, whichever is the greater)
  • Covers contents in sheds, outbuildings and garages (up to £2,000)
  • Covers damage to external glazing for which tenants are responsible
  • Covers replacement and installation of locks for outside doors or windows and alarms, if keys are lost or stolen
  • No need to have a special door or window locks (just a lockable front door)
