Exempt accommodation inquiry - call for evidence

22 December 2021

Following reports of some landlords failing to provide the support that vulnerable tenants need, or to maintain properties to a decent standard, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee has launched an inquiry into Exempt Accommodation. The inquiry is seeking evidence on the extent of the problem and the need for new measures to address poor quality and better protect residents. The deadline for responses is 28 January and the NHF will submit evidence.

Please get in touch with our team by 14 January if you would like to share your views.

You can watch the recording of the NHF webinar on Overseeing Standards and Quality in Supported Housing with speakers from DLUHC, Hull City Council and Vicky McDermott, Interim CEO of Prospect Housing. Prospect Housing recently published an insightful report on the struggle to provide lease based non-commissioned supported housing and the difficult decision to close.
