Local authority duty to provide support within domestic abuse safe accommodation– funding allocated

Following the 2020 Spending Review, the government has allocated £125 million new burden funding to local authorities to cover the costs of the new duty around the provision of support within domestic abuse safe accommodation services for 2021-22 - subject to the successful passage of the Domestic Abuse Bill.

Local authorities may commission housing associations to provide support services. The government has drafted guidance to support local authorities to ensure all victims of domestic abuse have access to the right support within safe accommodation when they need it.
