Maggie Galliers CBE becomes National Housing Federation chair

29 September 2022

Maggie Galliers CBE has been confirmed as the NHF’s new Chair at our AGM on 29 September.

Maggie has over a decade of non-executive experience in the education sector and worked in education for over 40 years prior to this, including 15 years as CEO at various colleges.

Most recently, Maggie has served as chair of the National Learning and Work Institute since 2016 and is Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council for Buckinghamshire New University. She was awarded a CBE in 2009 in recognition of her services to local and national further education.

Maggie replaces Baroness Diana Warwick of Undercliffe, who has served in the role since 2015.

Maggie says:

“I’m so pleased to be joining the housing association sector as we navigate this exceptionally challenging time for communities around the country.

“I have personally experienced the difference that social housing and housing associations can make to people’s lives. Without the support of social housing at a challenging time in my own life, I would not have been able to have the career I have been privileged to enjoy nor have been able to bring up my children in the way they deserved.

“I’m looking forward to meeting housing associations, hearing about your successes and challenges, seeing the life-changing work you do and using my leadership and governance experience to add value in whatever way I can.”
