NHF response to updated National Planning Policy Framework

In response to the updated National Planning Policy Framework, Kate Henderson, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation, said:

"We welcome reforms announced today via the updated National Planning Policy Framework that will improve and streamline the planning system to support the delivery of much needed new social homes.

“It's extremely positive to see that the government has listened to the social housing sector and decided against removing onsite affordable housing requirements on medium-sized development sites. This decision will safeguard one of the most important routes for delivering social homes in rural areas, ensuring we can build genuinely affordable homes where people need them, in every postcode across the country.

“We will continue to work in partnership with local authorities, mayors and the government to deliver the biggest social housebuilding programme since the post war period.”
