We’re calling for a renewed commitment to the delivery of the Housing Transformation Fund

The NHF has written a joint letter to the Secretary for Health and Social Care, Steve Barclay MP, following the publication of the government’s next steps to put People at the Heart of Care.

We are deeply disappointed by the government’s decision to dramatically scale back funding to bring together social care and supported housing. The government’s plan for adult social care system reform reneges on the £300m Housing Transformation Fund, removing a crucial funding commitment to increase the supply of supported and retirement housing and integrate health, housing and care.

Collectively the signatories of this letter provide almost all supported and retirement housing in England. Together, we’re calling for a renewed commitment to the delivery of the Housing Transformation Fund to ensure some of the most vulnerable people in our society have the support and care they need at home. Co-signatories include the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, the Chartered Institute of Housing, and Homeless Link.

Every decision about care should be a decision about housing. Over the next decade, 125,000 more people are going to need supported housing. In a time of huge financial pressures, we will continue to work towards increasing funding for this vital supported housing.
