Housing associations as anchor institutions (webinar)

02 October 2020

The role of housing associations as anchor institutions is what sets them apart. They are employers, builders, partners and placemakers. They are at the beating heart of communities across England – and they are there to stay.

In this webinar, we explore how our sector can play a leading role in shaping a social and economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic that benefits every community and leaves no one behind.

We also launch a new toolkit from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) and NHF, which provides practical advice, top tips and guidance on how housing associations can maximise their impact in local communities.

This includes exploring how our sector can contribute to community wealthbuilding by:

  • Making our financial power work for local places
  • Utilising fair employment and promote just labour markets
  • Supporting plural ownership of the economy
  • Introducing progressive procurement of goods and services
  • Making socially just use of land and property

Speakers

  • Sian Coulton, Community Engagement Manager, Community Gateway
  • Bill Lovat, Regional Director at Regenda Homes
  • Neil McInroy, the Chief Executive of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies
