Partnering with a new government

Andy Burnham has signalled that housing will be the top priority for this new government, and we look forward to partnering with him and his team to deliver Labour’s manifesto commitments on the biggest social housebuilding programme since the post-war period and better protecting our existing social homes.

It also includes an update on the Social and Affordable Homes Programme. We’ve been calling on the Treasury to bring forward enough funding to the first years of the programme to match the ambitious bids that have been made by our members. This is a top priority for us. We’ve written to the Chancellor, are briefing politicians to raise the issue in Parliament, and have recently secured media coverage in the Financial Times to keep the pressure up.
