Social housing rent cap consultation webinar

05 October 2022

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has launched a consultation laying out its proposals for a cap on social housing rent increases, to be implemented in 2023.

The consultation proposes three potential options for capping social rent and Affordable Rent increases next year: 3%, 5% or 7%. It comes amid soaring inflation and a resulting cost of living crisis for tenants and social landlords.

We are working closely with members right across the sector to develop a comprehensive response to the consultation, including a strong evidence base on the impact of a limit and on any mitigations that could be put in place.

This webinar reviews the rent cap proposals set out including our engagement with government board members and it provides some insight on the impact of the proposals on our members and residents.
